Side Trip

On the way to the family reunion we took a side trip to see an old friend of Steve's. He owns a hardware store now. Ray was really surprised to see Steve and they caught up on what was happening and talked about old times.
This strange plant was hanging in the hardware store I never did get a chance to ask what it was. Any one out there have any idea as to what it is? Never saw anything like it before.

It's called a pitcher plant. It is carniverous, like the venus fly trap. But this one drowns the fly in the pitcher, which has water and hairs on the inside walls of the pitcher. They fall in and eventually decay and the nutrients are absorbed by the plant. We should get together again soon, sis. I really enjoyed getting out with you too.

I think I would have nightmares if I had a pitcher plant in my house...even if it does eat flies.
Now...if it eats spiders, I may have to make an exception and just put up with a few nightmares once in a while.

(I didn't know what the plant was...I read the name in your sister's comment)

That is a strange looking plant, kinda interesting and scary. I'm not sure I want it in my house. I tried to keep a Venus Fly Trap once but it didn't last long.
